St. Dominic Council #4399 - Knight of the Year 2006-2007
The officers of St.Dominic Council have decided to continue a forgotten tradition. This past year all of the active members recognized the time, effort and charitable works of one particular brother Knight. It is with great honor that we have selected our 2006-2007 Knight of the Year, Sir Knight Salvatore Tesi.

One of the traditions that we restarted at our council, under John Bianco’s Grand Knight Term, was to honor
someone from our council as the “Knight of the Year.”
The purpose of the Knight of the Year award is to acknowledge someone, who stands out and has
gone above and beyond the council’s expectations; someone who has shown leadership qualities,
and someone who has positively affected the council. This council has many members who exhibit
these qualities. However, one brother stands out amongst this great group of men. He has contributed
significantly to my first year as Grand Knight. This brother brings so much joy and happiness and a
few corny jokes to every meeting. He also brings an analytical and “can do” attitude. He not only
identifies problems and challenges but also identifies the solution and works toward its resolution.
Taking an adapted page from JFK’s inaugural speech, this brother never asks what the Knights can do for
him~he asks what he can do for the Knights.” The brother I have in mind joined the Knights in January
2001 and has been a driving force behind the organization since day one. He has served in various officers
positions including Treasurer, Association President, and Chairman of the Golf Committee amongst many others.
He also organized several walks for Autism and bringing the needs of that group to the forefront of our minds.
He also is acutely aware of the presence of God in his life and sees the presence of Jesus in others. I have
enjoyed his company, on the retreats in the Bronx. In fact the retreat is a mixture of prayers and this brother
saying “did you hear the joke about the priest, rabbi and the minister.” You just cannot help but laugh.
When I became Grand Knight he was one of the men who approached me and encouraged me, asked what they could
do for the council and made a suggestion that did not fall on deaf ears which was to increase the spiritual
activities of the council. He also came to me with his deep fear. That was the fear of having a man like
myself, with an Irish surname, running a Pasta night. He then turned around and organized the
St. Dominic Council St Patrick’s Day Pasta Night complete with Irish Music and step dancers! So go figure.
I am sure most of you realize that I am speaking about Brother Ralph Mola. It is my distinct and humble
pleasure to award and present to Ralph Mola the award of St. Dominic Council Knight of the Year for 2008-2009.
